“Hostile” Iranian Ships Hyped By War-Hungry Neo-Cons On Eve Of Bush Trip

By Paul Joseph Watson

Desperate for a Gulf of Tonkin style incident to reinvigorate momentum for an attack on Iran after the National Intelligence Estimate derailed the push for war, the Pentagon is crying foul over the alleged hostile intent of Iranian Revolutionary Guard boats after an incident in the Strait of Hormuz this weekend.

In what U.S. officials called a serious provocation, Iranian Revolutionary Guard boats harassed and provoked three U.S. Navy ships in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, threatening to explode the American vessels, reports the Associated Press.
U.S. forces were on the verge of firing on the Iranian boats in the early Sunday incident, when the boats turned and moved away, a Pentagon official said. “It is the most serious provocation of this sort that we’ve seen yet,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the record.

Of course, the hyping of such an incident is directly timed to correlate with Bush’s visit to the middle east this week in which he will make a desperate attempt to resurrect the boogeyman of Iran’s non-existent nuclear weapons program. He will also be briefed by Israeli security officials about “Iran’s nuclear programme – and how it could be destroyed,” reports the London Times.

The Times seems to conveniently leave out the fact that the CIA’s most recent National Intelligence Estimate emphatically concluded that Iran ceased its pursuit of a nuclear weapon in 2003.

But that matters not to war junkie Neo-Cons who will use any pretext to send more American boys and girls into the imperial meat-grinder in the interests of middle eastern hegemony and corporate blood money.

Numerous respected public figures, from Ron Paul to Zbigniew Brzezinski have warned that a Gulf of Tonkin style stunt could be pulled as a pretext for air strikes on Iran.

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time the Bush administration has considered staging incidents as a justification for war. During Bush’s January 31 2003 meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, a scenario whereby Saddam Hussein would be goaded into shooting down a U2 spy plane painted in UN colors was discussed.

  1. Thank you for your information above. I wanted to do some research on my lunchbreak to see what was going on with this and what people were saying. When I heard the voice recording form the men on the boat, I started laughing. Sounded like it could have been a sketch for Saturday Night Live. Are we really suppose to think that was real?

  2. Yes, they wish us to think this is just as real as we thought the Gulf of Tonkin incident was that got us into vietnam or the Israeli sinking of the USS Liberty. Understanding the enemy tactics is the first step in countering and neutralizing them! The TRUTH shall set us FREE! Amen

Dear Mr. Watson and Ms. Hoover, You folks live in a dream world where everyone can live in peace and harmony. These overt acts on our warships in international waters demonstrate what Iran can and will do in order to push us to the brink. If you believe what the CIA has to say about Iran’s capabilities of having WMD, then you go right ahead. My sons are serving our country. All you have on your minds is the US policy in the middle east is war mongers. What do you have in mind in order to not repeat another 911? Talk to them rationally? OK, go ahead. Go live in your dream world and I’ll live in mine.

  4. Fermin,

May your sons come home healthy and happy, sir.

All we need do to prevent another 9/11 is to rout out the criminal elements within the current Administration and those in the military/industrial complex who are complicit and hang them from the nearest tall object.

Osama Bin Laden is dead and has been for years. Al Qaeda was a creation of Zbignew Brzezinski as Carter’s National Security Advisor. He recruited Bin Laden and his crew to fight the Russians in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda is a totally false boogey man. Saddam was also our friend not so long ago when we armed him to fight the Iranians on our behalf. We know he had WMD because the US kept the receipts! Though what he had was destroyed in accord with the UN resolutions.

No one in either Iraq or Iran had anything to do with 9/11 yet we are slaughtering the people of Iraq and may, God forbid, do the same in Iran.

From a former military man familiar with black ops and an ordained minister, please know that what you see and hear in the media is very often a plain lie. Things are very rarely as they are presented, sir.

Yes, extremists exist in every religion, even Christianity..for example the White Supremacists who somehow use the Bible to justify their beliefs and wishes to exterminate others. There are crazy people everywhere. The crazy ones we must stop are the ones with their hands on the controls of our country, sir.

You have our most sincere prayers for the health and happiness of our troops who come from your home.

    Support Our Troops!
    BRING THEM HOME!!!!!!!
